Today, if we ask ourselves,
“Who am I?”
Jesus’ answer is clear:
“You are the SALT of the earth... and the LIGHT of the world!”
That is our identity as disciples of Jesus. As
, we give flavor to peoples’ lives! As LIGHT we give hope to people!
, we should always be
; that is – we live
at its best, not spoiled by greed, hypocrisy and hatred, but flavored by
. Meaning, we recreate our
homes of love
. We are not only to model God’s love by loving each other, but we become the hands, the feet, the eyes, and the heart of Jesus to the rest of humanity.
One of the concrete things we can do, beginning today, is to transform our hearts as
homes of generosity
. That our hearts will be filled with love to give an overwhelming gift to the Diocesan Development Fund
: maybe a gift of $50, $100, $200, $500, $1,000, or $2,000 – spread out in the twelve months of the year.
parish’s 2017 DDF goal
. I am confident that we can go beyond our goal easily with100% participation of the registered members of the parish. We did it last year; we can do it better this year. Imagine what God could do with a Church full of generous people! We can be “Transformed by the Spirit.”
The spirit of giving is true loving! In giving, God looks at the heart, not the hand; he looks at the giver not the gift! When we give – it should make us happy, it should make our heart sing and it should inspire us to give more.
This is the time to become
: let the flavor of
be alive in our parish. This is the moment to become
a reflection of a loving heart. Remember, you are what St. Paul said to those who are generous and good stewards of their treasures:
“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity…”
(2 COR 9:11)
For our personal reflection: “Do you think of yourself as a generous person – SALT of the earth and LIGHT of the world? Why or Why not?”
God bless you all,
